An Assessment of Energy and Groundwater Consumption of Textile Dyeing Mills in Bangladesh and Minimization of Environmental Impacts via Long-Term Key Performance Indicators (KPI) Baseline

Bangladesh’s ready-made garment sectors have evolved to increase market share in the global textile supply chain. Textile heavily rely on energy and groundwater consumption during production; mainly, dyeing mills contribute carbon footprint water impact environment. become one of major industries responsible for continuous depletion levels severe pollution Reduction long-term key performance indicators (KPI) can be set a baseline by reducing mills. This study has analyzed trend based 15 Bangladesh 2019. The average dyed fabric production 2019 was 7602.88 tons consuming electricity groundwater, discharging treated effluent wastewater environment, amounts 17,689.43 MWh, 961.26 million liters, 640.24 respectively. KPI discharged 97.27 L/kg, 2.58 kWh/kg. Considering yearly 5% reduction strategies each factory could save around 355.43 liters 6540.68 MWh 10 years (equivalent 4167.08-ton CO2 emission).
